Multiple randomization subsets in a block? | XM Community
Skip to main content

Hi everyone,

I have a very specific questionnaire that I need help formatting.

Within a block, I have 13 questions. Within those 13 questions, I’ve conceptualized them into four subsets:

Subset 1: 2x questions

Subset 2: 6x questions nneeds randomization]

Subset 3: 2x questions nneeds randomization]

Subset 4: 3x questions nneeds randomization]

I know it is possible to separate these subsets out into separate blocks, but I really want them to all be on one page. In other words, there should be 5 questions per page. I tried to configure this in the Look & Feel settings (when they are separated into blocks), but Qualtrics still displays them in separate pages.

Is there any chance someone can help me with this?

Thank you so much!!

Alexandra

Different blocks will always be on different pages.

My recommendation would be to put all your question on page and enable randomization.

Priror to this block, you should generate random numbers in the survey flow to use as display logic.

Let take your subset 2, you could generate 2 random numbers between 1 and 6, then apply display logic on each of the questions to only show if their respective number has been picked and so on for the other subsets as well.

Hi Ahmed, thanks for your great response, that worked exactly as I wanted it to!! Thank you so much!

Now, I know this might be a long shot, but do you happen to know if there’s a way to call for this sort of logic in a plain .txt file, so that I can import all of my questions and the corresponding logic directly to the survey? As far as I know, even the Advanced Format .txt files can’t seem to handle this sort of stuff.

Thanks again :)
