Piping in external data fields based on ID provided in prior survey question

Hello,
I'm working on a project that is trying to allow respondents to enter a project ID that will pull from an external data source, piping in data from the row that matches the Project ID. Has anyone implemented a project like this? I'm looking into different options but am not sure where to start.

    You can use contact triggers to store and pull information from previous responses. Also:

    This is a great start, thank you pogi .
    It looks like from the description that the data pulled has to be linked to a response the respondent has already given. However, I have a large spreadsheet for the external data that I want any respondent to be able to pull from. Would this work in the Longitudinal Survey approach?

    https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/comment/35850#Comment_35850Look at using the Contact List. You can upload the file with the embedded data fields into the contact list then pull the data in the survey.
