Preserving Line Breaks in Response Summary PDF

Within a survey, I have students submitting a personal statement into an essay text box, but their response summary pdf does not retain the line breaks that were included in their original essay text box.  My understanding is that this is due to the discrepancy between plain text and HTML format, but beyond this, I have very limited knowledge of JavaScript. (Even my wording probably reveals my ignorance here.)

I’m not sure if this is a text piping issue because I’m not trying to pipe text into a different survey section or email.  I’m just trying to have the response summary pdf mirror the formatting of the student’s text box response.  Any insight or workarounds would be appreciated!

Hi @blechle3 ,

I understand that when in the D&A section the text may appear that the line breaks have been lost

if you click into the text do you still see the line breaks?

I can confirm that printing the response to PDF removes the line breaks but if you extract the data to excel format it does maintain the line breaks.  I so it may be possible to create a PDF from that but I appreciate that that might be a bit of work to do.

There is another option which is to use the report section  as that seem to work.  It may be possible to schedule an export of the report to goto said responders (if they have an user account).

Hope that helps a little
