Testing a question only to be displayed if Metadata is equal to a value

When creating a question where it should only display if Metadata on the participants is equal to a specific value will the Preview option only display the question if the participant has that specific value? How do I test that the display logic works properly?

The preview displays the survey exactly as would to the respondent. So if you don't have the meta data, you won't see the question.
