Using side by side but validating the whole row as a single question

Hi,

I have a side by side question set up where there are 2 columns (one with 4 multi-select options and one with a text entry). Is there a way to validate one row as if it’s a single question and force respondent to select/type a response? Like if a respondent selected any of the first 4 options, the respondent is not required to type anything in the text field and vice versa.

Yes, that should be relatively straight-forward with Custom Validation. You would set up a separate rule for each line in the question.

Here is a simplified version of the question.
Here is the custom validation.

Thanks. Sorry, I forgot mention that the rows are based on whether they were selected in a previous question.

Not sure exactly how it would work without seeing the previous question, but this would likely still be doable; you would have to incorporate the previous questions in the custom validation statements accordingly.
