Agree-Disagree question

Is there a best practice when using agree/disagree questions for 1) the question text and 2) whether the most agreeable option should be on the left or right? I originally wrote the question as "Would you agree with the following statements?" but recieved feedback to clarify like "Please indicate your level of agreement with the following statements." While the latter is technically ore accurate, it seems overly formal so would love to know any thoughts on best/standard practice

I would say something like "To what extent would you agree or disagree.." The suggested option is indeed extremely formal IMO, It makes me feel like i am interrogated or something 😃

We use similar wording for our studies, and although it may sound more formal, it helps a respondent reading through the question quickly know exactly what's expected of them. As far as which side the "agree"/ "disagree" is on, I would follow Qualtrics' example question on this. There is quite a bit of research/suggestions out there so it really depends.
