We recently added a new "Event Type" code to our survey (as Embedded Data) and I would like to go back and add this information to responses collected in 2016. In the past, I have done this for a few responses by "retaking" them with the Embedded Data value appended to a query string in the link. However, this changes the "Recorded Date" for the response which isn't acceptable for this project as it is a longitudinal study. Any other way I can add this field to old responses?

You should edit from your Data & Analysis tab. If you know something like "all respondents where region = North America--or whatever it is--will get new Event Type xxx" you can group edit by filtering to those respondents, selecting them, then editing your New Event Code field. Otherwise you can do them one by one, which is definitely more of a pain.
