Track number of respondents allocated to branches
Can Qualtrics keep track of numbers of people with different characteristics assigned to different conditions? For example, questionnaire has branch to versions A and B and we want to ensure that equal numbers of males and females receive each. Respondents would indicate gender before the branching. Would probably require some central place where running total was kept to be checked each time the questionnaire was used.

You can use quotas to do this. Set an embedded variable flag in each branch, then a quota condition would be something like:
Branch A Females: If Gender Question Female Selected AND Embedded Data A=1
