Hi everyone,

I am looking for a way to trigger notifications (email or in-app) for the Action Planning feature in CX Dashboards.

It seems that unlike EX, CX Action Planning does not have a straightforward notification toggle.

If you have implemented a workaround (via API or specific Workflow triggers), I would love to hear your approach.

Thank you!

Hey, NguyenPhiLong! If you are hunting for a simple "notification toggle" for CX Action Planning, it's completely understandable to expect it especially  if you are used to how EX handles things. However, CX Dashboards operate a bit differently and don't use a universal per feature switch.

Instead, everything runs through Dashboard Workflows. To get alerts cooking, you actually create a workflow and use a Calculate metric step based on your mapped  dashboard fields, combined with specific conditions.  For instance, you can set it to evaluate a metric over a specific timeframe and fire off an email or in-product notification if a certain threshold is hit.

When it comes to Action Planning specifically, the system relies on an Action Plan Event trigger. Right now, the system can automatically kick off a workflow when very specific events happen:

  • A new comment is added

  • A new action plan owner is assigne

  • A new action owner is assigned

If you were hoping to trigger notifications for general creations or broader updates outside of those three scenarios, you might run into a bit of a wall. The system is currently limiited to those specific events, and since there isn't a dedicated Action Plan API to poll for changes, you'll want to stick to designing your automation around  those built-in triggers.

If your workflows aren't firing correctly or you need someone to double-check your event mapping under the hood, it might be a good ideas to have a support specialist take a look. You can get in touch with them by logging into the Customer Success Hub and opening up a technical support request.
