Hello

I have my account set to EN (UK). I have created dashboard and the Rich text Editor labels are different for users on language EN (US) to those labels set up on my account. Has anyone come across this and has a solution

EN (UK)

EN (US)

Hi @AnnaP

Yes this is something which when I first setup Qualtrics (2018/19) our language for all users defaulted to US but we were not aware of this.  Then a year or say later they changed the initial login process for new users and asked them to select their language, so our team started crossing over to UK as their language.  So we started to experience the same issue.  If you don’t have many users or dashboards / surveys, now is the time to ensure everyone uses the same language (if you are just UK based) but if you are across multiple countries then you have to make a decision whether to manage all the different titles and labels you’d need from one country to the next in dashboards by using the translation tools / functions in the settings part of the dashboard.

I learnt the hard way but hopefully this reply will help you get your ducks in line as it were to help in the future.  I know when sending survey email invites once you have selected a second language (eg UK and US) you are stuck with it as it’s not possible to delete the second one for some reason.  In the translation part of dashboards it may now be possible to delete a second language from your translations and maybe (I’ve not tested this) it will then default to the primary language of the user who owns the dashboard.

There are a lot of variables left unanswered I’m afraid but hopefully the above will give you some understanding and possible areas in the dashboards and user accounts to delve into to try and fix the problem.

If this helps please feel free to click the corresponding answered button or equally come back with some more questions.

Thanks.

thanks @Rod_Pestell this is very useful. Do you know if the translation only affects the ‘Rich text editor’ labels? Or could it also affect the data and scores?

Also, do you know if we will have to complete this translation every time we add something new to any of our dashboards?

thaks

Anna

Hi.  You can export the translation doc which then (from recollection) is a big csv / excel file listing of id’s that relate to different widgets.  The columns are the different languages.  It includes titles, rich text strings, chart labels and other stuff I think.  So you can really go to town making the dashboard translated 100% across multiple languages if needed.  Worth reading the support pages before messing about with it! ;)  I don’t think it affects scores.  Textset based fields / scores on the other hand, I think you may have to change the values / labels in the survey - there is a separate translation part in the survey to do that I think.  Have a read around as I’ve never actually needed to use it in my role.

Thanks
