Topic: Closing a Survey

Closing a survey, also known as pausing response collection on a survey makes it so that the survey no longer accepts new responses and disables your distributed survey links.

Whether you need to re-write some questions, fix some logic issues, or you’re done collecting responses, Qualtrics allows you to pause response collection via the projects page and the Distributions tab. Before pausing your survey, it is crucial to check your survey’s incomplete response settings since these settings decide if your responses in progress are allowed to finish their session, or are deleted as soon as response collection is paused.

Although pausing can only be done manually and not scheduled, survey availability allows you to set a specific date the survey becomes unavailable for new respondents. This differs from pausing responses by allowing all responses in progress to be finished even after the set date.

Stay consistent with your research plans by implementing the correct survey options to your project today!

Where to find this feature:

  2. Click the 3 dots next to the project you want to close.
  3. Choose what happens to responses in progress when response collection is paused.
  4. Click Pause response collection.
