The HCAHPS survey got a refresh on January 1, 2025, including a new Restfulness Composite. We all know how challenging it is for patients to get quality rest in the hospital, from environmental factors like noise and room temperature to the understandable anxiety about their diagnosis and care plan.
Given these significant barriers, we're curious:

  • How are you approaching patient restfulness during their stay?
  • What strategies have you implemented or brainstormed with your frontline staff to improve patient perceptions of rest?

Share your insights and ideas below! We'd love to hear how you're tackling this crucial aspect of patient care.

This is really interesting--I’m looking forward to reading the insights here. I’m especially curious if there’s anyone who is integrating restfulness survey results or other insights with biometric data...

Interested to follow this thread. As a RN, BSN turned Qualtrics engineering admin I have the privilege of seeing both sides of this. I understand fundamentally where “rest” is of concern however I feel that institutionally (insurance/regulations/etc...) we, the US Healthcare System, are not set up to allow “rest” for our patients.
