A way to display only select multiple choice options using prior question other than display logic?

We do an employee survey and we ask about the school/department. We have multiple choice question that asks for the first letter and then have a question that lists out all of the schools/department. Right now I am doing display logic on each individual school/department based on the first letter question but the list of schools/departments is rather large. I am wondering if there is another work around (JS, display logic or Qualtrics solution that has been added).

Hi Kristi! Great question- we do have a new feature we are rolling out in the near future called “Autocomplete Questions and Supplemental Data.” Is this what you had in mind?

@AratiU that sounds like it may work for what @KristiG needs.  I’ve beta tested them and I’m thinking it might be a good solution.  But, will it cost for the new feature?

Before I was able to beta test those, I did this via a Contact List.  That way if items changed, I didn’t have to change the questions/display logic, just update the Contact List.

The Negative is that the value won’t show in all views since it will be a variable value.

You could do a drill-down question. Your first column would just be the first letter of each department.
