Budget Survey - Budget Simulator

Hey there, hoping to use Qualtrics to create a budget simulator to share with our community.

Basically a tool that allows users to make cuts and investments in different areas of the budget to help determine budget priorities.

I would have a set amount for the budget, then amounts for each area.. like sports, art, class sizes, etc.

Any ideas on how to do this?

@lisagilchrist  You could do this using a “Constant Sum” question. Each of the statements would be  your budget areas and you could have the user either enter a percent of the budget or a dollar value.

Would that work?

That was what I was leaning toward, but I believe the survey would work more where..

transportation is 35k

sports is 23k

art is 12k

curriculum is 25k

professional development is 45k

etc. etc. and you have to pick and choose which areas to prioritize, so it would be less a percentage.

So instead of selecting items, people will have to type it in and see where it totals.

@lisagilchrist  This would function the same way as the percentage example. You can change the symbol  to a dollar sign and instead of totaling to 100% you could set it to total to whatever dollar value you’d like.
