Clarification on Update Session API endpoint

Hi!
I need to use the "Update Session" endpoint in the Take Survey API, but I don't understand how to map responses to questions in the request body. Can anybody provide example usage of this endpoint with submitting a response to a multiple-choice question?

It is not clear how to map questions and their respective responses in this API call. What are the properties?

Why should a response have multiple properties?
