Are survey links and embedded data tied together?

I am trying to understand how embedded data imported through a contact list is associated with the links generated when I create an email distribution based on said contact list.
I have a survey in which a number of questions depend on text piped from the embedded data imported with the contact list. I understand that if I use that contact list to distribute my survey, it will automatically generate survey links. I can then obtain those links by downloading the distribution history.
Here's the question: Will surveys taken using those links appropriately display the embedded data if I email them to the intended participants outside of the Qualtrics distribution?

Hi JME
As long as you are setting the Embedded Data from your Contact List in the Survey Flow, the links you download from the Distribution History will be linked with the survey response data.
