I’ve been working on a solution to make this a little easier, and I’d love to get feedback from the community.
One thing I’ve found surprisingly tedious is moving content between Qualtrics accounts. For surveys, you can export/import QSF files, but you still have to repeat the process for each survey. Library messages are even more difficult since there isn’t a straightforward export option.
I’ve added two migration tools to the Qualtrics API Toolkit Chrome extension:
Survey Migration
Select one or more surveys from your source instance, choose the destination, and migrate them directly. The tool also provides a mapping of the original Survey ID to the new Survey ID, which can be useful when updating references.
Library Message Migration
Select messages from your libraries and migrate them to another instance. The extension loads the available libraries automatically, and you can filter messages by category such as invitations, end-of-survey messages, SMS, etc.
Both migrations run directly in your browser using your Qualtrics API tokens. Your data does not pass through our servers.
A few situations where I could see this being useful:
-
Moving from a trial or sandbox instance to production
-
Consolidating Qualtrics instances after an acquisition
-
Copying standard surveys or message libraries to another regional account
-
Recreating a survey setup in a colleague’s or team’s instance
The Qualtrics API Toolkit by Pirai AI is free and available on the Chrome Web Store.
I’d be interested to hear from the community:
How are you currently handling cross-instance migration?
And are there other Qualtrics objects or migration scenarios where you find the current process particularly painful?
Happy to share more about how the migration tools work or answer any questions.
