linking two (and future) surveys WITHOUT an authenticator? | XM Community

Due to an Ethics issue at my university with the topic of my research, I can't ask my participants to fill out their contact information, voluntarily, in the main survey. They asked to link to a separate survey in which they can fill those out. This survey is the first of what we intend to be a longitudinal study, and participants are asked to fill out contact information if they choose to be sent the following surveys in a few months, a year etc. What I'm having trouble with is connecting the main survey's data with the contact info, and how to connect future surveys to this. I've tried with the authenticator, but the pre-fill didn't work for me and I can't provide participants with a random login ID number and ask them to enter it, another ethics issue, everything has to be behind the scenes. is there a workaround for this?

If you can assign an ID of some kind in the first survey, you should be able to use Query Strings to automatically pass the ID to the subsequent surveys and link the responses. Here are a couple of pages in Qualtrics Support that explain further.
