Response count doesn't add up across survey questions

Hi, I set up a survey where all the responses are mandatory. However the response count for the first question and those further down the survey are not consistent. For example, first question has 16 responses and then question 5 has 14 and question 6 had 13 responses. Does Qualtrics record the response even if the respondent doesn't make it all the way to the end of the survey?

    Surveys responses that have been abandoned mid way are closed after a pre determined time, you can set this duration based on your survey.
    After closing they count towards your total responses, probably these are what you are seeing. Download your data and see the progress. Responses with progress less than 100 are those that have been abandoned mid way.
