Generate test responses not working for carry forward

Has anyone found a solution, or even run into the problem of generate test responses not working with some display or skip logic?
I have a set of 8 matrix questions that are programed to carry forward the not displayed statements from the prior matrix and randomly present 5 of those statements.
When I preview it in the survey preview it seems to work fine. But when I try to generate test responses it doesn't generate any data for matrices 3-8.
Any thoughts or solutions?
