Is there a way to turn off Qualtrics GeoIP Estimation?
In most cases we don't need to know the location and under the new EU wide GDPR collecting unnecessary data is problematical. I know you can anonymise a survey's data collection, but we may want to collect some personal information.

How are you distributing the survey? Is it Anonymous or email distribution individual link?

Is it possible to collect personal information from the survey?
In this study it will be by anonymous link and no other identifiable information will be collected.
In other studies there might be email and/or social media distribution and other identifiable information collected.
I was just looking for a way to turn off the GEO location. If that was possible.
With an anonymous link and without having Authenticator [https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-flow/advanced-elements/authenticator/authenticator-overview/] & Contact list [https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/contacts/contact-list-overview/] and selecting "anonymize response" we wont be able to capture the personal information...
My study cannot use anonymous links, we require personalized links because it's a longitudinal design (we are surveying the sample people multiple times and need their personal identifiers). Like the OP mentioned, collecting extra and unnecessary is problematic. Is there any way to prevent the geoIP estimate from being recorded with their survey data?
Can you advise how to turn off the Geo IP Estimation for a non-anonymous survey? We need to turn off due to GDPR requirements.

Check Anonymize under Survey Options. This also turns off collection of personal data (Name, email, etc.). If you still need to collect personal data fields, assign them to embedded data fields in the survey flow (e.g. firstname = RecipeintFirstName).
If we check anonymize is the person receiving a unique url tied to all of their embedded data?

Yes, if you do an email invite they will get a unique url tied to their embedded data.

Check answer from TomG, declaring it as embedded data in the survey flow
