Is social media distribution always anonymous?

Can't find the answer to this on the support pages. If I post my survey on a social media site, is any information about the user recorded (other than the site they have accessed it from) or is it the same as using an anonymous link? E.g. does it record the respondent's social media account name? Thanks.
