Question export tags / variable names in modern SPSS export

I have been using the legacy SPSS export and am transitioning to the modern export. I am working on a survey that is part of a series and I need all the variable names in my exports to be consistent across the versions of the survey. When I view the question export tags in the survey editor using the "recode values" option, I see the variable names I expect (e.g. "digitalUse_x7"). But when I export to SPSS with the modern export, the variables have been renamed (e.g. now "digitalUse_3" for the same variable). How can I export to SPSS in the modern export while retaining the variable names I see in the recode values menu?
