Use ExternalDataReference for Intercept

We have loaded the contact list to the XM Directory with some embedded fields. The ExternalDataReference is actually referring to the customer member ID.
Instead of using email as distribution channel, can I setup intercept so the customer login client’s website and capture the ExternalDataReference field?
So the survey data for the intercept can link with contact list’s embedded data, based on ExternalDataReference as a key.

      I think you can add the parameter ExternalDataReference (e.g., &ExternalDataReference=customer_member_id) to your link then use an Authenticator in your survey flow that automatically authenticates to your contact list using the external data reference. Under your Authenicator you would have the embedded data block that populates your embedded data fields from the panel (i.e., contact list).

      Yes, I think this is how it works for normal survey link. But what about intercept?
