Use Authenticator to identify respondent from Directory, not one specific list

Hi,
I want to distribute a survey anonymously (using a QR code), but still want to try to identify the respondent.
I would add a question in the survey "what is your email address".
Through the Authenticator in the survey flow, I'd want to use that email address to look up in the Directory if this person is in there yet. If he is, then I want to fetch additional metadata to store as embedded data in my survey results, so I can later use them in the dashboards and in follow-up workflows.
However, the Authenticator only seems to have an option to choose one specific List in which he'll look up the respondent.
Is it somehow possible to let the Authenticator search in the whole Directory?

But first I wanted to know if I might just be overlooking something that already exists, or if there is some workaround.
