Bulk adding new XM directory contacts to an existing list

Hi Qualtrics users!
I've looked around to try and find out the answer to this question but so far I've not found the answer so hoping someone can help !
Is it possible when adding new contacts to the XM directory (via .csv) that at the same time they are allocated to an existing List?
If so is there a guide anywhere I can use?

      Yes, under Lists click on the list you want to add them to. Then click '+ Add List Contacts' and import your .csv.

        I think I was getting mixed up here.
        So the import of new contacts to a list also updates/populates the XM directory doesn't it. I was thinking about it the wrong way round !
