How many sources can be included in one data set? Is it better to first combine survey data in data projects before using that data project as the source?

Hi @Ian Brown,

You can include up to 60 data sources in each dataset. If you need to include more than 60 sources, it is recommended to combine the data into one imported data project using workflow tasks and then use that imported data project as the source in your dashboard.

Here is a support page with more information.

Thanks for this, Sean. Just a couple follow on questions from this:

Hypothetically, if I were to use up the 60 source limit for a data set, could I export all the data in a data set and then import that data to a new data project? Or do I need to export all the data from each source separately and import it one at a time to the new data project? I’d obviously prefer the former :)

Alternatively, could I instead create a new “higher-level” data set that draws on other data sets (like the original one and any others created to hold sources 61+)? Or can data sets not have data sets as sources?

Hi @Ian Brown! If you reach the 60 source limit for a dataset, you can indeed export all the data from the dataset and then import it into a new data project. This would be more efficient than exporting data from each source separately and importing it one at a time.

Regarding your second question, data sets cannot have other data sets as sources directly. You would need to combine the data from multiple sources into a single dataset or imported data project before using it in your dashboard.

I am out of office for this week, will any of these be available as a recording?

@Steven.Babister Thanks for checking in! At this time, Learn Qualtrics Live event recordings won’t be available for viewing after the live sessions. However, this is part of an ongoing series, so you can expect it to return in a few months.

This looks great - appreciate the variance in time zones!
