Is it possible to use the information that a respondent fills in in one question and automatically project that in a following question?
And is it possible for the survey to tailor follow-up questions or text depending on a respondent's chosen answer earlier in the survey?

Yes, it is.
You can use piped text for example to use the selected choice in the text of some of the following questions. If your task is more complicated, you can create your custom texts in Javascript or show different questions based on the selected answer using Display logic.
You can also create the same question(s) for all choices that were checked in the previous question using Loop &merge.
