Dear Community,
we have a client who wants to distribute a part of a survey on a website and pass the information to us via query strings. In addition to the NPS, it is also the reason for the recommendation - i.e. a sometimes somewhat longer text variable.
In the customer's old survey tool, it was possible to pipe this information passed via query strings directly into a question in the survey.
In Qualtrics it is possible to use embedded data for this purpose, although this is strongly limited with 1024 characters. The use of a Site Intercept solution is currently not possible.
Do you know a possibility to implement the above described Sezanrio with Qualtrics, so that especially many more characters (with the old system 65k characters were possible) can be included?
Thanks for your support!
Best regards
Marc
onyxcircus it sounds like you want to use the Q_PopulateResponse feature in the Query String: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-flow/standard-elements/passing-information-through-query-strings/#HowToQ_PopulateResponse
There's no exact limit on the open end, but the FAQ does mention that different browsers limit the length of a URL (e.g. IE limits URLs to 2,000 characters - so a lot of characters are already taken up by the root of the URL before you start using Q_PopulateResponse.) Other browsers seem to be bigger but I'm not an expert in this area. Here is Chrome's page with an explanation of URL limits: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/security/url_display_guidelines/url_display_guidelines.md#:~:text=Chrome%20limits%20URLs%20to%20a,is%20used%20on%20VR%20platforms.
