5 For The Fight is a Qualtrics-led nonprofit and global campaign dedicated to the fight against cancer.

Task:

  • What non-profits or social causes are important to you? Why are they important or how do you support them? We’d love to hear your stories!

During the first week of each month, we will post a new question, topic, or activity for you to connect with the community and earn a badge. All community members who join our team and contribute a thoughtful comment to this month’s discussion, between May 1 and May 31, will receive this badge worth 50 points by the end of the month.

I care deeply about education equity and support nonprofits that focus on accessible learning and critical thinking, especially in underserved communities. As an academic, I try to contribute through mentorship and by making research more inclusive and publicly understandable. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools for long-term societal change.

@rochak_khandelwal I’m so pleased to read this, and I completely agree!

I am a Scout leader in my spare time. This is something I engaged with when my children were younger to support them and have since continued as I find it valuable to support youth in my community and to enjoy time outdoors.

One cause that really matters to me is The Life You Can Save, which was started based on Peter Singer’s ideas. It helped me see that it’s not just about giving, but about giving in ways that really make a difference. That’s also why I care about the effective altruism movement—it’s all about using evidence to figure out how to help people the most.

@ccarroll scouting is so important, so kudos to you for the great work you’re doing!

@vgayraud Peter Singer’s work is so important in the world -- perhaps now more than ever 💜

Agree with what rochak_khandelwal mentioned about education equity.

I donate to a local platform in my country, especially for education related.

The local platform is one-stop national giving platform to donate, volunteer and fundraise for any of the over 600 registered non-profits.

There are two causes that I like to support with funds and/or time:

  • 5 For The Fight goes without saying. I lost my sister to lymphoma in 2020 during the pandemic, and FFTF is an essential funder of cancer research, especially now when so much critical funding for cancer research in the United States is being destroyed.
  • Likewise, expanding diversity, equity, and inclusion in the communities which I play in -- particularly analytics, data visualization, and baseball research -- is very important to me and underscores a lot of the work that I do in my spare time.

One cause that really matters to me is sustainable agriculture, not just for the sake of the environment, but also for creating a more inclusive and caring society. I’m involved with Fondation Gaïa Nova, a Canadian charity that promotes eco-friendly farming and economic inclusion through various projects that connect people and the land.

What I love about Gaïa Nova is their focus on growing a healthier future (quite literally!). They support regenerative agriculture, protect biodiversity, and help communities build food autonomy, all while making sure no one is left behind. It’s a beautiful mix of caring for the Earth and empowering people, and I’m proud to support their mission in any way I can.

Adam, we are so glad you’re a part of the Experience Community, and supporting such great causes 💪

What a great organization, @mfiset

We’re a biker community with nearly 300 members. We plan rides as often as we can, but riding isn’t our only focus. During our rides, we also try to give back by donating to schools, cleaning up the places we visit and spending time at orphanages together as a group

Food insecurity is an issue I am passionate about. I volunteer with my daughter making meals for our local homeless shelter and try to give money and food to our local food bank.

This is fabulous, @Sachin Nandikol!

@Amy_Bow This is such important work -- happy to read that you and your daughter have found ways to help!

My advocacy turns into 3 pillars:

  • Human Rights (focus on gender equity, black movement, and LGBT+ community): Supporting financially education platforms, sharing info.
  • Animal Welfare: I regularly support financially animal activist accounts.
  • Food Waste: I adopted some Zero-Waste behavior, such as buying only enough for me, freezing food, or supporting Circular food initiatives (myself or brands that use non-traditional raw materials).

I would be more than happy to exchange insights :)

I support the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.  As mentioned in some of my previous posts my dad was diagnosed in 2020 and LLS was there for us.  I also follow various mental health services and resources as a grad school student in clinical mental health counseling and former employee of a community mental health center.

I would highly recommend checking out what local groups are doing in the community, they often need support/volunteers.

I think it is so important to educate yourself on donation funds are where they actually go. I have been shocked at how some funds are used with certain organizations where it seems like your donation will go to recipients entirely but then they only end up receiving a small portion.

I serve on the board of the Friends of the Library because the public library has always been a cornerstone in my life. Growing up homeschooled by a single parent, the library was more than just a place to check out books—it was a lifeline. It gave me access to learning, imagination, and opportunity at a time when resources were limited. As I got older, the library became the place where I grew up professionally, built my career, and formed some of my closest lifelong friendships. Supporting our library now is my way of giving back to a place that gave me so much. Through the Friends group, I help ensure our library continues to be that vital, welcoming space for others in our community.

They are those of us who do our best for work and family every day. But if this Earth where we all live is not healthy, I think one day all this work and family will be at stake.

The abundance now is the draw and use of resources for future descendants, and it may have been created at the expense of others starving somewhere extremely poor on the other side of the world.

For non-profit organizations like UNICEF that all work together to protect the planet with the least amount of life, I endorse every month for a small amount of money.

@Temily B Strong support from me here on ALL points above! 💜

@pamelalbeck Yes, yes, yes! Mental health is woefully overlooked and brushed aside -- tragically -- in so many corners of the world 💜

@SewanYun Thank you for mentioning UNICEF. A great organization doing amazing work!

This is indeed very important!
