Block to Block Progression

RyanBrickman if you just want your users to move in a linear fashion through the blocks, you can skip the table of contents and just organize the work using survey flow. If not all blocks need to be completed by all users, you could use branch logic to move your users through the survey.

jmborzick Thank you for the input. I do want to keep the Table of Contents so users can also use them to navigate around from block to block however I still want the pages to progress to page to page and block to block if they are using the "next/forward" button. Is this possible?

RyanBrickman I'm not aware of a way to do what you want with the TOC, I would be interested to hear from others though.
The only way that I can see to set up a process like what you want would be to create a very complex survey flow using branch logic. That would allow users to select where they want to start and then at the end of each block allowing them to either progress to the next block or choose a different block.

jmborzick is there a way to just turn off this feature. Specifically it skipping a completed block and going to the next block that is not completed? Wondering if you know anyone you can tag/mention in this post that might have some insight.

I don't know of a way to do what you want to accomplish, nor do I personally know anyone who does. Looking at the list of all-time points leaders on this page I know that TomG is very knowledgeable with JavaScript and might be able to help you code something.

TomG Tom, I read through the thread and it talks about adding a TOC button. If I understood correctly this does not resolve my issue. I do find it a little odd that there does not seem to be away to have the survey progress in a linear fashion between blocks, regardless if Qualtrics considers them completed or not. This is a huge nuisance for users.
For my survey before users take the survey an admin will go through each block/questions to fill out they they can. Qualtrics will consider all blocks completed. Then when the admin sends the survey to the user to review/complete, every time they try to progress from the 1st block to the 2nd block Qualtrics skips all the "completed" blocks and go straight to the last submission page. This confuses users as now they have to keep using the Table of Contents to go back to block 3 for example.
I would just think there is a way to "turn off" qualtrics designated a block "completed" simply by going through the block regardless if any information was entered or not.

I've always thought the operation of the TOC leaves a lot to be desired. The thread I referenced is a workaround to help with some of the shortcomings. You can submit a product idea, but don't expect it to be addressed by Qualtrics anytime soon or ever.
