Hi *,

we have here an EX directory were the users are unique based on the unique identifier.

Now we have the case that the same person was uploaded with different unique identifier.

We want to merge the two entries preserving all the data in the projects from both entries.

As the merge functions semms only to be available in the XM dir, is there any solution to do this in an EX dir?

Regards

Hi, @Space - the final frontier!
As far as I know, the ability to merge duplicate contacts—such as two entries for the same person with different unique identifiers—is only available in XM Directory. The EX Directory does not support merging or consolidating duplicate participant records, even if you update unique identifiers or migrate participants. Each participant must have a separate unique ID, and the migration process does not merge or consolidate duplicates.

Additionally, there is no built-in tool (that I´m aware of) or function in EX Directory to merge two entries and preserve all associated project data (such as survey responses or participation history) from both records. The merge functionality and identity resolution features are exclusive to XM Directory.

What can you do?

  • If you need to update unique identifiers, it is recommended to do so in the employee directory, but this will not merge duplicate records.
  • If you need to consolidate data, you would have to manually review and update records, but still, project data (responses, history) would note be merged between two unique identifiers in EX Directory.

I´m very curious to listen do the community and get their perspective! I hope someone out there has a creative way to help you out.

That is exactly what we are doing as well - in our case it is a problem caused by temporary employee IDs created before they are assigned the real ones, and delivered via an automated user upload - so no project data for the second one, just manual aligning that has to occasionally happen.
