Hello, I want to create a study on qualtrics. Participants have some income that they have earned before and they spend with this income. I want to prevent overspending by using Validation logic. But it does not work.

I believe you just need to change the “Is Greater Than” option to “Is Less Than”. The way you have it set up now, only values over the income will pass the validation check.

I don't think selected count is correct here since it will give a range from 0-8 depending on your selection.

 

You need to know what option(s) is/are selected, then sum up the actual value of the selected option(s) and check that Net_Income>=sum_total.

 

I had a thought which is listing out all combinations but 8 spending options = 128 combinations.

I don't think it is easy/suitable to list out all combinations and unsure if Qualtrics can add that much validation conditions.

 

You probably have to check with other users if JavaScript codes or other solution is available.
