Q: Tell us about your current role:
A: I'm currently the Director of Student Affairs Assessment & Strategy and the Executive Director of the Institute for Well-being at Butler University. I created and manage the Student Well-being Institutional Support Survey (SWISS), the only national survey that measures students' perceptions of how well their institutions are supporting various aspects of their well-being. SWISS measures support for basic needs; academics; mental and physical health; inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility; financial literacy; social connection; and more.
Q: Tell us about one project that you have run on Qualtrics that has been particularly impactful:
A: The global pandemic, social unrest over racial injustice, and a contentious political climate have influenced the well-being of college students in many ways beyond their mental and physical health. To date, however, there has been no way to directly measure whether students feel their institutions are supporting them holistically. Without proper tools to measure whether institutions are supporting multifaceted student well-being, administrators cannot target interventions effectively. The Student Well-being Institutional Support Survey (SWISS) was designed to capture student perceptions of how their campuses are supporting aspects of their well-being, and gives institutions actionable information on areas of strength and opportunity.
As of March 1, 2022; 18 colleges and universities have participated in SWISS with more than 13,000 students responding to the survey. Institutions have used their SWISS results to compare commuter and residential student experiences, to reinvent approaches to programming in residence halls, to increase supports for upper-class students, and to target resources towards financial literacy outreach. Results vary by class standing, racial/ethnic identities, and first-generation status, which allows universities to better target their initiatives to the students who need them most.
Q: What would you like to learn from others in the Community?
A: I would be interested in learning more about other ways institutions of higher education have used Qualtrics outside of course evaluations and on-campus surveys.
Q: If time and money were endless, what would be your dream experience?
A: Goodness! The possibilities!
Thinking altruistically, I would use endless time and money to address inequalities across gender identities globally. Imagine the advances the world could make if everyone, regardless of gender identity, were given equitable opportunities, compensation, and education. Balancing these scales, or even making inroads, would be a dream experience for sure.
On a more personal note, I've always loved concerts and music. When I was in undergrad, I worked for MTV, Saturday Night Live, and a few radio stations. Later, I booked concerts at Indiana University and Towson University. I would love to go to back to New York and see a concert or attend an SNL or Jimmy Fallon taping to relive the glory days!
Q: Do you have any additional or fun information you'd like to share as it relates to your experience with Qualtrics?
A: Whenever I've had a question or issue with my work in Qualtrics, every representative I've spoken with has addressed my concerns with both humor and helpfulness. It's wonderful to know that when I ask for help, I won't be talked down to or treated like a burden on someone's time.
Thank you so much for sharing, Bridget! You are doing truly amazing and impactful work!

One of the clinicals in our nursing program does mid-term and end-of-term evaluation of students. I have created a form in Qualtrics, using the drill down, to allow instructors to find their student by name, email, class and section and then complete the evaluation. I then created a custom report for the clinical that allows the program coordinator to filter by student email to see each individual student's evaluation. These reports can then be printed out and signed by the faculty and student. This process will also allow us to develop benchmark data over time. We began this format this Spring 2022 to replace paper copies and to allow consistent evaluation and tracking of students over 3 campuses.
