Hi all,

As I continue to research Qualtrics, I noticed that when someone uses a retake link (regardless of whether it’s gonna replace the original or not), it keeps whatever the questions’ answers were filled in. Is there a way to reset all the answers whenever someone retakes a quiz, even if it’s with custom code?

Thanks for the clarification. In that case, you wouldn’t really need to use Retake Links. The name of the feature is misleading, it’s not intended to be a “retake” in the sense of a quiz or test. You could just use the solution described above or just use an anonymous link for all versions of the test.

There’s not really a way out of the box in Qualtrics to reset a survey link and clear out the responses that were originally entered.

There could be a code-based solution, but it might be unnecessarily complex.

Can you describe a little bit more about your use case? That might help community members provide a solution. But based on your description above, my thought is that you could just send a second distribution to the same email list; that would create a new set of survey links where the answers would be blank again, and it would preserve the original set of answers in your dataset so you could still analyze those whenever you need to.

My main use case would be for a quiz within a course per se. If a student failed a quiz and wanted to retake it again, I’d assume an instructor wouldn’t want the students’ previous answers to already be filled out.
