Auto Populate Response from Previous Survey

We have developed a survey to use for monthly reporting with a group of partners - one question asks them to indicate the status of each of their activities (not started, in progress, completed). We are trying to find a way to eliminate the need for them to continue to mark things completed each month once an activity is complete. It sounds like Qualtrics does not have a way auto populate a response for a future survey response (i.e., carry forward the “complete” response for the next time they complete the survey). Is there any other way to achieve this? We do use a contact list with embedded data to pipe customized text for each partner’s survey, so maybe there some way to use embedded data? Thank you!
