Hello, Qualtrics Community:

We have created a survey to judge teams in a competition, and I would like some guidance from other Qualtrics users as to how they would go about doing the following:

  1. Calculate the average of each "category" (5 total multiple-choice questions) for all 3 judges for a specific team.
  2. Calculate the overall score of each team where each "category" is equal weight (regardless of questions).

Can this be done within Qualtrics, or would it be advised to export the survey data and perform the calculations in Excel?

Hi @CSUCI-AH,

For calculating average of each category, you can use custom matrix and see the results in dashboard.

For calculating overall score of each team you can use ‘Scoring’. For more information about scoring click here

Thank you. I will look into this.

Is there a way to calculate averages based on the Team and/or judge? We have two open-ended text entry questions to intake the name of the judge and the team.

Is there a specific formula that we would use to calculate averages based on sorting responses by the judge or team? Where exactly would we go in the interface to access and create these formulas?

Thank you.

Hi @CSUCI-AH,

As of now, I don't believe there is a way to calculate averages based on the team or judge. However, if you come across any new developments or solutions, please do let me know.
