Counting embedded data and displaying result to the users

I have a survey with questions for students, each question has three options.  Based on the answer to the question I need to assign the top three academic majors associated with the question in the background.  At the end I would like to display the academic majors in order from largest to smallest which were stored based on the answers.  3 answers for per question, time 3 variables for the top 3 majors times 30 questions is a huge amount variables.  And like I said I would also like to report the majors that appeared the most at the end for the student taking the survey this could be in an email hopefully
