I'm new to the community and looking for a little help.

I am designing a survey where students select their 3 most preferred areas (10 areas) and careers (more than 150 careers distribuited between the 10 areas) to enter university. Below is an example that I have used in previous surveys with drop-down lists:
 

The problem I am having is that students, in previous surveys, selected the same area and career 3 times. Therefore, my objective is that the drop-down list, when selecting the second preference (area and career), does not show the career selected in the first preference, with the aim of choosing another career in the same area or another area. For the third preference, I also want the careers selected in the first and second preferences not to be shown (I think you get the point).

I don't know much about JS, but any help is more than welcome :)
