Participant entered an invalid value but it still went through

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hello,

I have added response restrictions to an answer field that the entered value can only lie between 100 and 999. When I test whether this works and enter a smaller number, I receive an error message that the entered value needs to at least equal 100. However, now I have run a pilot and a participant entered a value smaller than 100.

How can this be the case?

Thank you very much in advance!

@anleta

What question type are you using? May be it might be treating it as text?

It is a text entry field but I only allow numbers to be entered as the content type

Can you please check if the survey is published? There are chances that you might have added this validation later and not published the survey. Also, those who might have started the survey earlier, would be able to bypass this in case this validation did not exist at the start time of their survey.

In case it still does not work, can you try custom validation and keep the text box type as numeric

Thank you very much for the response! I had the survey published and this happened for two fields: For one I had custom validation and the participant could still enter different numbers even though when I test it, I cannot enter anything below the value range I entered as a restriction.

Hi @anleta ,

If you're utilizing the 'Text Entry' question type, you can add a validation rule as depicted in the screenshot below:

This validation rule ensures that if respondents enter a value less than 100 or greater than 999, they will receive an error message, preventing them from proceeding further.

Let me know if this works for you.
