How can you have different language translations use the appropriate translated "Next" and "Previous

Hello folks,
I have a survey in two languages using the built-in translation feature. Since it has been asked here before, I also know that you can make custom "look and feel" messages for Next and Previous. But when I set those in the Look & Feel/ General section it just makes whatever messages I set apply to the survey regardless of the language a participant has selected. I will have participants of both languages. Is it possible to have the next/prev associated with the survey translation or do I need to have two different surveys?
Please advise.
