Today, you’ll learn how to personalize your dashboard by creating and incorporating custom metrics.
FAQ for Personalizing Dashboards with Custom Metrics
What kind of data can I use to build a custom metric?
You can use a wide variety of data fields from your dashboard, including numeric values (like satisfaction scores or progress), counts of text fields (like open text responses), and survey metadata (like Responses or Duration). You can combine these with mathematical operators like division, multiplication, and addition.
How do I troubleshoot a custom metric that isn’t working?
The most common issue is an invalid equation. Look for a red triangle with an exclamation mark in your equation box. This often means there is an error in your formula, such as an extra operator or a metric that isn't separated by a function. You should also ensure that your metrics are correctly labeled and filtered.
Can I use a custom metric in other dashboards?
Custom metrics are only available in the dashboard where they are created and in any copies of that dashboard. They are not globally available across all of your dashboards.
How do I use a custom metric to create a percentage or ratio?
To create a percentage, you should divide one metric by another. For example, to calculate a satisfaction rate, you would divide the count of positive responses by the total count of responses. You will need to select an option and format the metric to a percentage inside the widget after it is created.
