Topic: Response Editing

While it may seem counterintuitive, being able to edit your recorded responses is crucial to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of your data.

In the Data & Analysis tab, you can edit responses directly in the cells of the data tables and update any mistakes or outdated information. You also have the option to edit multiple responses by utilizing the checkbox column along with an applied filter to edit responses that match specific criteria.

To maintain transparency, when a data value is edited, the cell is tagged with a gray triangle to denote what change was made and by who along with an option to revert the cell back to the original value. If you prefer for the respondent to update their own response, the Retake Response and Retake as New Response options can be used to allow them to change their responses as they please.

Promote reliable and up-to-date data by learning how to responsibly edit your recorded responses today!

Question of the Week: What are some common situations where you need to edit your response data? If a respondent needs to retake the survey, which retake option do you select & why?

I work for a school district and our first couple of surveys we did not put a school year on them.  As schools would use the survey and realize the efficiency of Qualtrics, they wanted to continue to use the same survey from year to year to track historically.  I would then go in and add a question of school year to the survey and then go back and edit the responses for the previous school year in data and analysis based on response date to tag it to the correct school year.  We now try to add those questions when building a survey, but we have lived through and learning from some of our earlier use cases.

We could have used a filter by date of response on the dashboards, but having the filter of the school year was an easier visual for some of our end users.
