Topic: Screener Questions
Screener questions play a crucial role in any research project by helping ensure that the participants in your sample accurately represent your target population.
When creating these questions, it is important to find a middle ground where the screener requirements aren’t apparent when answering the question and the criteria aren’t so broad that they include all participants. It is best practice to create a block of screener questions and have your participants go through the entirety of that block, then use a branch in the survey flow to end the survey for those respondents.
Qualtrics allows for 3 alternative methods to handle screened-out respondents, which include: saving all responses but flagging with embedded data; discarding all screened-out responses; and discarding screened-out responses but keeping data on where each respondent was screened out and why.
