Apologies if I’ve posted this under the wrong category, but I wasn’t sure where it should be filed.

I sometimes come across a post by another user which shares information that I know will be useful to me and I’d like to save so that I can reference it in the future. But, there’s not a great way to do that -- I can like the post, or I can subscribe to it, but I feel like that’s not really what those actions are supposed to be for -- they’re intended for community functions (like to show that this is a good question or a good answer, follow to be notified of updates), whereas I really want a personal “save” function. There are plenty of posts that I may want to acknowledge a good response by liking it, but I don’t necessarily need to reference it in the future. Any possibility to add a “save” button that keeps links to posts in a separate box in my account?

Almost like a bookmark function?  I save the Outlook notifications in a folder from the XM Community to keep track of relevant threads I want to revisit.

Yes, exactly -- a bookmark function!

The Outlook notification technique works fine if it’s a current thread and you’re getting emails about replies. But sometimes I come across old threads with solutions for a problem I’m facing (with custom code, say) and there’s no email notification, but I know I’m going to want to reference this code in the future at some point. Plus, email notifications only work as long as you have the same email address -- maybe you change jobs, or your work email only has a 1-year retention policy, etc.

Hi @Jona

The subscription feature still let you see the topics you subscribed to even if there is no update. You can access them in your profile. I’ll grant you that it’s not optimal since you can’t do searches on them, add comments or personal tags.

I personally just create regular browser bookmarks, rename them in a more meaningful way and organize them in subfolders. Modern browsers all have search functions in their bookmarks managers.

@vgayraud Yes to the browser bookmarks, I do that as well.

Anyhow, to come back to your question. I suppose product ideas regarding the community platform should be made on the Gainsight community itself.

Hi @vgayraud ,

Thanks for the suggestion -- I do currently use subscriptions to save threads, I agree that it’s the best of the options that currently exist. But it’s really not a great solution, in addition to the reasons you mention (no ability to add searches or tags, etc): you get auto-subscribed to any threads that you comment on, and that means that all community interaction that I have will get mixed in with the threads that I want to save. Sure, I could periodically go through and prune the threads that I’m subscribed to simply because I responded to them, but that’s a bit of a pain. It just seems like a separate category of saved/bookmarked threads would be an easy solution!

(And, fair point about browser bookmarks, but again, it’s a hack to solve something that should be internal to the site. Maybe I log into Qualtrics on multiple computers, for example.)

Hi @Jona, @pamelalbeck, @vgayraud!

Thanks for the great feedback on improving the platform, it truly helps us make the community experience better for everyone!

I reached out to our Gainsight rep about this and she found a similar idea already submitted: "Add Ability to Bookmark or Save Community Posts." I've upvoted it and shared this thread with their product team. She's also checking on the development status and put in a feature request on our behalf.

I'll keep you posted on any updates! Just a heads up, you'll need a Gainsight Community login to upvote but anyone can view the submission.

Fantastic, thank you @AlonsoC -- reading through this post on Gainsight, it looks like others have posted exactly the same concerns as we did here, so hopefully Gainsight will take it into account!
