How can I enable the respondent to add 'blank' copies of a column to a side-by-side question? | XM Community

Hi there. I am looking to enable my survey respondents to add further ‘blank’ columns on a side-by-side question, which offer the same choices as the ‘stock’ columns but the respondent can edit the column header for. Ideally, there would be a ‘plus’ button which adds an additional column right of “Trade bodies...”, whose header is blank and the respondent can type in, but with the same drop-downs as the other columns (see the below screenshot). That way the respondent can add an institution not listed and evaluate it on the same terms as the others.

I have seen a discussion along the same lines, but in the context of adding rows, here:

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I could amend this for my purposes? I imagine javascript is involved, however I am completely useless on that front…

Huge thanks in advance!
