Text Entry option in dashboard

Badge +1

Hello,

I have a question with 5 options, one of the options is Other(Please specify) with text entry enabled.

While trying to build a dashboard widget that displays all the responses selected for this question, i would like to display the text entered in the Other option. But the widget isn’t showing the text. Is there anyway to pull the data entered in the text entry box?

Thank you!

Hello,

Do you have access to TextIQ? This may perform better within that but for our survey we have a separate question that has a display logic if they select “other” it will display a textbox for them to elaborate. Since you have it in a multiple choice you could use a word cloud or a paginated table which both are simple to use if needed. TextIQ for use has been super helpful though.

We have also used a record table to pull in that portion on the dashboard.  So we have two widgets to display the one question:

Hello,

Maybe you haven’t mapped that answer choice’s(other) field in the dashboard data. Thats why you are not able to see the ‘other’ choice when you are creating a widget.

You can go to the settings→ Dashboard Data→ Add field→ Not Mapped → then search for that question→ then select that ‘other’ answer choice in the side drop down→ Give this field a name → Click Save.

Then to display replies to that choice create a response ticker widget and then select the field that you have created in the dashboard data.

If you are showing the counts of the 5 main options presented in a chart, you will not be able to dynamically show a breakdown of text values for ‘other’ within the same chart.   You will as others have mentioned be able to use two widgets side by side, one to display the counts and then another widget to show the text values of ‘other’.

If you are just wanting to show all answers individually (no counts or calculations).  Try using a record table widget, then it should show all answers including text entered against ‘other’ by default (assuming variable is recognised as text).
