Can I make a question in a block repeat itself independently of the other questions in the block?

Hello everyone!

I have a block in my survey where I expect the participants to give me the right answer on five multiple choice questions. I want to make these questions reappear, but only if the participant gets them wrong and only the question they got wrong. Is it possible to make questions repeat themselves based on the given answer and independently of the other questions in the block?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

@damalt this is doable - the question is do you want each of their “attempts” captured (ie The answer is choice #3, but you would like to see that they tried that question a total of 3 times and selects options #1, #4, then the correct option #3) or do you only care that they eventually get the question correct and don’t need to capture their attempts?

Yes, this can be done in Qualtrics, although not fully automatically at the block level. One option is to use Survey Flow with Branch + Loop & Merge, evaluating each multiple‑choice question independently: if a response is incorrect, a branch is triggered to show only that specific question again, without affecting the others. This allows only the incorrectly answered questions to be repeated. Alternatively, if the goal is to prevent participants from moving forward until they answer correctly, you can use content validation within the same question, configuring it to accept only the correct answer and display an error message if the response is wrong. In this case, the question is not technically “repeated,” but participants are forced to correct their answer before continuing. Both approaches are valid, depending on whether the survey is intended for learning or for assessment purposes.
