Disable Qualtrics' Suggested Answer Choices

I don’t think I’ve ever used the suggested choices other than to delete them out.  Interested to see if other users like this feature.

Where is Qualtrics at with this suggestion? It seems like an odd feature to be ramming down our throats...this tiny annoyance that I have to deal with over and over again when building a survey from a pre-written qre that seems like it would be so easy to fix with a little button to turn it off or whatever... I suspect that the vast majority of your customers aren’t sitting there programming multiple choice questions from scratch while hoping to get suggestions for the responses. Am I wrong?

The ability to disable Qualtrics' auto-suggested answer choices (automatic or suggested choices) is inherently managed by Qualtrics based on the survey's status and data collection activity. According to the information, the 'suggested choices' feature is automatically disabled as soon as the survey starts collecting data to prevent invalidation of responses. This means that if the survey already has responses, the option to use suggested choices will not be available, and even copying such a survey will inherit this disabled state. For brand new surveys or new questions that have not collected responses, the suggested choices toggle is available and can be used. There is no function or setting that allows users to turn off the auto-suggested answer choices feature explicitly apart from these conditions.

Therefore, to avoid auto-suggested answer choices, one should work in surveys/questions before collecting any responses. After this, the feature cannot be turned back on. Alternatively, a practical approach is to manually enter and manage preplanned answer choices and disable data collection until all choices are set. This is the default design to maintain data integrity and prevent confusion from suggested choices being auto-added.
