This week, discover the top survey design and organizational buy-in tips from our X4 Badge of the Month challenge, learn JavaScript solutions for audio-only response validation, and explore workarounds for displaying branch names instead of coordinates in map widgets.

Congratulations to:
-
@swholey and @alexwan for reaching Level 1! -
@xut for reaching Level 2! -
@KelliPolk for reaching Level 4!

For March’s Badge of the Month, we asked members for their best tips and advice. Here’s the tl:dr version:
Survey Design
- Take surveys yourself: Experience the survey as a respondent to spot friction and improve flow.
- Start with the end in mind: Define desired data outcomes first, then reverse-engineer questions and branching to avoid rework.
- Test thoroughly: Collect dashboard/report requirements up front and run extensive tests before launch.
Using the Community
- Search the Experience Community first: Many problems have already been solved—check existing threads before posting.
- Share what you learn: Contribute your solutions to help others and build community knowledge.
Getting Organizational Buy-In
- Avoid technical jargon: Use plain language stakeholders understand (e.g., “typical” instead of “mean”).
- Make insights actionable: Focus questions on what product owners and leaders can act on, not just academic curiosity.
- Communicate extensively: Help leaders appreciate CX value and reduce fear of negative feedback.
Innovative Experiments
- AI-powered compliance checks: Use AI to flag potentially sensitive questions and provide confidence scores to reduce false positives.
- Dashboard metadata extraction: Capture field mappings via browser console to speed audits and build data dictionaries.

- Audio-only response validation: Community members shared JavaScript approaches to allow audio responses while blocking video; snippets and debugging tips were exchanged.
- Side-by-Side question validation: Solutions to enforce only one answer per row in Side-by-Side matrices.
- Map widget labeling: A user asked how to display branch names/keys instead of latitude/longitude for many points; responses covered native options, embedded-data transforms, and custom-code workarounds.
- Open-Source Tooling & APIs: Explore an open-source CLI for converting survey exports to PDF/JSON formats, and join discussions on connecting Qualtrics MCP in Claude Code using the Qualtrics API.

-
Follow-Up Questions After Survey Completion: Discover techniques for presenting follow-up questions to respondents after they've completed your main survey.
-
EX Dashboard Performance Optimization: Learn strategies for avoiding performance issues in your Employee Experience dashboards as your data scales.
